Here are a few photos of some edibles from my walks in the last few days.

Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)
Root is listed as edible if you boil it or dry it for a few months.

Wild Rasberry (I think this is Rubus idaeus)
Only a few weeks to go.

Common Plantain (Plantago major)
Yes it is edible. Marty Simon says so among others.

Taraxacum officinale

Thanks for looking.

Sweet blade! Thanks for the pics of the wild edibles! Something I am working on learning more about. Pics help tremendously!

Great pics! My wild edibles education continues. Nice blade, too. Fiddleback's handles are so distinctive, so striking. Oh, and you have kudzu in PA? I thought that was a southern thing?!

Cool pics. What are the specs on that fiddleback. That thing looks good.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I am trying to learn more about wild edibles myself.

The Fiddleback EDC is 7.5" OAL with a 3.5" blade, 01 steel, full height convex grind.

Great stuff buddy, those EDC's are my favourite knife that Fiddleback makes...sweet score !!!

Be sure if you eat the Jack in the pulpit that you do dry it for at least a couple months, otherwise it's toxic. Not really kill you type toxic, just wish you were dead type toxic. An instructor I know at some raw root (before he was an instructor) without knowing it needed drying. He said it was like eating hot glass, it burned his throat and stomach for almost twenty four hours.
Later,
Iz

Thats a sweet EDC, I had one at one time, comfy blade indeed!!

Great foraging shots too!

My plant skills are seriously lacking..:o

Great pics and sweet knife! I think kudzu USED to be a southern thing. That stuff spreads like wild fire. I wonder how far north and west it goes?

Guys,
Jack-in-the-pulpit is not edible with cooking, and you have to dry it a min. of 1 year for it to be edible. I don't know about where you are, but here in Mi it is a protected species.
PS it is like eating hot glass!!!!

For all my Wild plant munching Brethern...Best bet...get Edible Wild Plants "A North American Field Guide" By Elias & Dykeman...Sterling Publishing, New York. Best guide I've come across, color photo's,seasonal guide, cooking tips...Been using mine for more than 10 years. Had it laminated page by page to keep it from getting soaked. I've rinsed it off in a creek to get the mud off without damage. I've never had the misfortune to witness the result of ingesting the wrong plant but I am told IT IS NOT PRETTY!(and sometimes FATAL) My rule is if it aint in the book I dont eat it. My best to all.
