Hey, I'm new to blade forums, I've ended up reading and learning a lot here after googling something and it sending me here lol. Anyways I've searched some other topics, and this topic http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/real-grinder.1491200/ is similar to what mine is about but I have a few more questions I wanted to ask.

I'm putting money away for a new grinder, and know i want a 2 x 72, with a flat platen and a contact wheel, also would prefer to just use a 110v one. Other than that I would prefer not to have to assemble too much, or anything, I'm not very handy or knowledgeable about these things, not sure how or why i chose this hobby lol. One that comes with a motor isn't a must, I wouldn't mind purchasing a motor with 1 speed and getting used to it, and then upgrading to say a 3 speed motor in the future or something along those lines.

My price range is about the same, id like to spend less than 1500, preferably right around 1500 and it seems there are a bunch in that range. Here are ones I've looked at and am considering purchasing:

I've also looked at the north ridge tools grinders, and there a possibility as well.

Sorry about the long winded post, the real questions are.
I'm very much a beginner knife maker, and I'm skipping buying the cheap grinders and also skipping over the grizzly grinder, I'm headed in the right direction right?
Of these grinders and similar ones, other than having to install a motor on a few, and mount them to something, is there any other big assembly steps im over looking, other than belts?
I plan on purchasing 3M ceramic belts in 50x and 120x, and 3m Trizact in a45 and a65, should that be a good start or am i missing something?

Once I purchase a grinder like this i plan on using it for quite a few years, and other than upgrading it with different attachments and what have you, I dont want to have to buy another grinder for quite some time. As i said, I'm very new to knife making, and everything I've learned so far has come from youtube and google, and a lot of times finding my way to a forum like this. Any suggestions, comments, recommendations are greatly appreciated.

yes, you are headed in the right direction. i do not think there are any steps you are overlooking. your choice of belts is fine. let us know what you decide.

wow, the shipping is really inexpensive on that one. i have not heard much about it but it looks like it will do the job.
