Great Hawks, I have been making different kinds of hawks latley and use a drift ground to the shape of my handles, but I'm haveing trouble with the necks and bands deforming during the punching stage. any help would be appreciated

I cut a slot then drift with a round punch first. Then I use the haft drift.
I have a 25 lb little giant which makes drawing the blade easier but drawing it by hand doesn't take long on the smaller ones.

Dixie, sometimes you can correct deforming on the sides by cooling with water the side that is pushed out too far, that lets the hot side move out more--if you get my drift (pun intended):D--hope this helps, eyes can be difficult--:(regards Butch

Nowicki, I notice that most of your hawks are hammer headed. Do you find that these are better sellers or do you just like them better?
Great work!
Enviously, Lynn

It is just what I did this time. I like spike hawks too. That will probably be the next batch. I have an idea for a pipe hawk in mind and maybe a double bladed one too. There is also some wraparound hawks in the future.
