A Few Hiking/Gear Pics (SH-E Pic Heavy)

Nice stuff Guyon. How does it chop as compared to the Wielers?

I'll need to do some side-by-side. My guess is that they're pretty similar. In the video, it would have chopped even better if I'd used some secure backing (like a stump or log) behind that branch at the point of contact. The knife still got through the branch pretty easily even with the bouncing. The best part of the vid is seeing the wood chips fly! :D

Guyon,

That is a Pygmy Falcon II, right? It was on your advice, I believe, that I ordered two from LA Police a few weeks back. They were smaller than I expected when I got them in hand, but incredibly well made. How do yo feel yours performs on day-trips, hiking expeditions?

I was able to get a minty marine-issue digital camo pack about 2-3 times the size of my PFII (with an unused camelbak reservoir) for only 30$ the other day, so I'm not too worried about using the PFII for a main b.o.b., but I'd like to know about your experience with yours. Thanks.

I used to use the PFII as a BOB, but I wound up adding some stuff, and my BOB was beginning to floweth over.

I now keep two packs in my truck. One is an LL Bean Bigelow Mountain top-load. I keep all my gear in it as a BOB. I also stash the empty PFII under the back truck seat as a pack to use for day hikes where I don't need everything and the kitchen sink to go with me. Only takes a few minutes to transfer the relevant items.

Guyon, excellent pictures! It looks like you had a great hike.

I was hiking out back of my mom's place. She said she heard a bobcat scream down in there yesterday. Those quail may not be long for this world.

Awesome clear pic's ...they are perfect! Love that SH-E

cool video and great pic's and equipment:thumbup:

Guyon, great pics, wish it looked like that here, but everything is still all white. I'm assuming that is a large spec-ops sheath; did you have much trouble getting the SH to fit in it?

I'm impressed your mom knows what a bobcat scream sounds like :D

Though she grew up around Atlanta, there's not a lot of city in my mom.

XMP, the large Spec-Ops is a near perfect fit for the SH-E. All I did was cut a small groove for the talon hole.

I really wish Spec-Ops made a 7" sheath as well.
