Is this going to turn into a review?

Well...not this thread per say...this is just a few Kephart pics ;)

But yes, it's the first Kephart I've ever liked and I love it, and it's a beautifully made knife in general, there is definitely a review coming. The onions, shallots, garlic, potatoes, celery, leeks, anise, meats, and what have you have already gotten the patina started pretty well :)

I think this...

Is going to look really nice with this...

I'll do a similar pic in better lighting than I had this evening for the review...first time off pain meds in almost two weeks...but this show the contours of this handle that I really do love.

Hi mistwalker,

I am glad to hear you are off the pain meds. I do hope you are feeling better and are well on your way to recovering.

These are some awesome photos. That knife and sheath combination is going to make some eyeballs spiral out of control. :stupid: That natural patina is coming along just fine I would say. Well done my friend.

Thanks MAW, I already feel loads better! I tried to get out earlier, but went out for an early dinner/late lunch with the wife and had a huge burer, fried mushrooms, a few onion rings, and a milk shake :o ...first solid food in almost two weeks :) Then the light was all but gone. Thanks I think it's looking good, shallots, garlic, onions, potatoes, and tomatoes do wonders for a patina :D

It sounds like you had a wonderful afternoon. That is good to hear! Take care. :)

Beautiful sheath my friend. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better as well.

Request. Can you get a picture of the way light affects this handle style? I can't work a camera well enough to figure it out.

Sweet sheath ! Glad your feeling better, those pain pills can rattle your brain!

I think it looks awesome, and can't wait to get the two together :) WOW can they not!! I feel like I have been lost in a stupor for the last two weeks...took me nearly an hour to find my camera yesterday...

Thanks Andy. I am sure as hell trying to capture it. With absence of contrast side view shots certainly don't do it justice that's for sure. I was playing with it in front of different levels and varying colors of light at different angles last night, and I am hoping to capture what I was seeing then.

Ok, after this no more until I post the review. I'll wait and take it out a few more times again after I get the new sheath in :) .

Mist, what medium did you use to force that patina? It is amazing!

Thanks man, I think this one is turning out nice too. I use a lot of shallots, onions, garlic, and potatoes so every time I cooked recently I made a little bit extra of things...and sometimes extra of everything, and then minced it really fine and sort of applied it like a chunky paste to the blade and just let it sit for a while. That's about four or five applications, plus all of the cutting to start with. The longer you leave it sitting the darker it gets. Shallot pieces left on it for quite a while made the darkest spots. It also stains the edge bevel, and then you have to sharpen or strop the stain off of the edge.
