A Few New Knives / Sheaths, Blackwood Burl, Sambar Stag

Very nice work across the board, Dave. That big fighter with the gorgeous box elder handle is particularly sweet.

Dave,
Great to see your work again!
Also sorry to hear the health issues are cropping up... But like Wulf said; "With one hand..." :D
Your style still strikes a serious chord with me!

You did all that with one hand? Color me very impressed. I can't even fathom that. Very nice work. Love the finish on the handles as well. I can't imagine doing anything in my shop one-handed. Beautiful knives, and lots of variety too!

Thanks Joe!

Thanks crimsonfalcon07!

I think it sounds harder than it is. I don't want to give this up so I'm trying to make it work out. I use clamps, vises, and my favorite (no laughing!), a mechanics glove I duct tape tools on. Tried Velcro straps first but didn't hold the tools tight enough....good ol' duct tape! Not the most accurate system but does the job until finding something better.

A short story about the sheath below. I temporarily regained the use of both hands after a couple surgeries last year. Shortly after I started making the sheath I lost the use of my hand again, since there were already so many delays I needed to finish as quickly as possible. I used the duct taped glove method to finish including the wavy basket weave tooling:). Fortunately the customer is also a good friend and was very understanding.

Frustrated with what I saw as poor fit and finish, this was the last knife/sheath I made for I believe 6-7 months but couldn't stay away form the shop any longer.

David, I know the owner of the knife and sheath shown in post 25 and he thinks the fit and finish on both the knife and sheath is near perfect.
