The ghosting effects are pretty simple. Just take pics of the knife from all the different angles you want, then start adding them to the main photo. You can resize each object to fit however you want. The software has tools for making each seperate object you add transparent. Thats what people mean when you here them talking about layers in pics, each seperate object you add that can be worked on independently in the main photo.
Most of the common imaging software packages will do this, adobe photo-deluxe, photo-shop, Ulead, Microsoft and so on.
I have tried several, and by far the "Microsoft Picture It Photo Premium" is my favorite. I think after the mail in rebate I paid like 25 or 30 dollars. It is extremely easy to use and quite powerful. Most of these packages will do the same things (with small variations from program to program) but this one is easier to do it with.
