Just thought I'd show a few of the pins I've been working on for some custom knives. They're still not quite what I want but they're getting closer and I'm learning as I go.

awesome! yin and yang is neat and that lightning bolt reminds me of the "steal your face" symbol

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll try to get better pictures sometime. These are all for gift knives and customized for my brothers and my parents. I don't know if I can perfect the process but I think I can do better. The yin yang isn't complete yet, still needs a black and white "dot." I may scrap them and start over... again. A closer look shows more flaws than I think I can live with. I like the crosses but the arms on two of them are a little crooked; surprisingly, it's been the most challenging. The lightning bolt is my first attempt, I'll be trying more.

Would be pretty easy to mill the cross as a single piece that you could just drop into the tube. Happy to bang a few out for you if you send me the stock.

I really like your pins with the cross in them. I'm making a wedding cake knife for my nephew and I think he would love them.
pm sent.

Thanks for the replies guys, I sort of lost track of this particular thread but I didn't want anyone to think I was ignoring them.

how did you make the one with the lightning bolt in it?

It's two pieces of steel ground to the beveled points of the lightning then superglued together before inserting into the tube.

I tried to copy what you did with the Cross. It didn't turn out as nice as yours, but worked. The brass seemed to spread a little when sanding so there was not that defined edge. I may not have got the epoxy down in there as well as you did. I had given up on the idea and put the 1/4" tube in the back of the knife when I noticed some scrap brass that I could hand sand to the correct shape. The super glue worked well to hold the shape before epoxying.
Here are a few screen captures and a video of the almost finished knife.

MFM,
Welcome to shop talk.

This thread is three years old. The OP hasn't posted in two years. It would be better to start a new thread about mosaic rivets. You can link the old thread in your posts for reference. When pulling up treads in a search always look at the beginning date before posting on it. Resurrecting old threads is called necroposting :)
