Here are a few of the toys Rusty brought with him. The Chainpuris are pure. This is what a real Chainpuri looks like.

These pictures are for you Howard, and anyone else wondering what a real Chainpuri looks like. The village 17" on the bottom weighs 14 oz. I have another 17" that weighs 20 oz., and it seems to handle like a BAS stretched out 2" longer but the same weight. The other Chainpuris are much like the Sirupati blades but narrower spine to edge and thinner cross section.

The mace was included because several times I've said I keep one behind the seat of the truck. Since it was there, I pulled it out and had Uncle Bill take a picture of it. You see, when it comes to my tall tales, they are ALL true! ( It's just that some of them are truer than others. )

Rusty, I like your toys. Where did you get this? I don't get to see many chainpuri and these are really nice.Had to copy a pix. Thanks for sharing with us. Hopefully one of these days I can get down to Bills myself, would love to met inperson. Thanks again

You know, normally I prefer OC spray over Mace.

With that thing, I'll make an exception!

Pakcik Bill.

Thanks to post Chainpuris' pix. I love Chainpuri. Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere - when I say the differents between Chainpuri & Sirupati are:
  1. Chainpuri has a different model of handle while Sirupati has a standard eye shaped handle.
  2. Chainpuri's Cho is an imbedded Pariwa Ki Aka style while Sirupati's Cho is a standard Cow Track style.
  3. Chainpuri has slimmer blade than Sirupati
  4. Chainpuri has a more tapered end than Sirupati.
  5. Chainpuri's weight is lighter than Sirupati.[/list=a]Rusty.

I remember you mentioned in one of your posting that the different of handling Chainpuri compared to handling Sirupati is like handling an 15" AK compared to handling a BAS!

    Brian.

I think you are just like me ... in love with this slick & cute lady!

BUT, there's no hard and fast rules here. My one-off visiting kami Shop2 piece has a Chaimpuri-like blade but a more Sirupati-ish grip and an open Cho.

No biggie; it's a GREAT piece, exactly what I wanted. I actually prefer it's slightly shorter overall grip over the longer pommel shown here.

Nice pix. About half a year ago, I got a 19 inch village sirupati with a chainpuri handle. Except for the finish and the open cho, it could have passed for a longer version of the 17 incher in the picture. Handles nicely too.

In a moment of craziness and desperation, I gave it away as a good luck gift to friend who opened up a brand new dojo (remembering a similar gesture by Brian). Hoping for another villager like that popping up in the future.

Incidentally, from what Uncle Bill says, my calls to him and posts about the 17" villagers ( both the 14 oz shown, and the unshown 20 oz "long bas" ) finally convinced him that maybe others besides me ( and him ) might appreciate the less flashy but still incredibly tough "user" village khuks. That these were chainpuris made little difference. So he sent for the first bunch of villagers and the rest is history. Leastways, that's the way I recollect it.
