These are especially for anyone stuck in a city today. Increasingly, cities make me feel like a trapped feral creature.

Not just Cities make you feel trapped; anywhere in California you almost need papers on you to show officials you are where you are allowed to be. You have buy a parking permit to see the San Bernardino National forest.

Public schools and America's rising society- I feel sentenced. Credit for time served.

Sounds awful:thumbdn: Glad it's not like that here. There's something to be said for living in a state with a declining population!

Why do you think I'm here? ;)

No Josh, it's not all bad, wherever you are. And wherever Josh is, is a pretty good place just because Josh is sitting on it.

I resent the overcrowding sometimes, but it's not as bad here in Northern California. Dawn and I were the only ones at those falls. I don't think I've ever run into another person there to tell you the truth, and it's right off HYW 70. And lemme tell you, that water is every bit as cold as it looks. Had to stand out in the stream to get that first shot.

OK. I'm not sure I'd liken that to the settling of the West, but....

Montana recently sent out a pamphlet to everyone, celebrating co-operative power companies or something. But in it was an interesting list of common outdoor mistakes. One of them went something like- "that ice cold, clear stream water that looks so pure is still full of bacteria and ameba's that cause disentary so do not drink!"

Yeah, that saddens me. When I grew up, there was a local spring called Bluff Springs, and a lot of the old timers would drive down there once a week or so to draw their drinking water. I was saddened when I got a little older and began to understand the sorry condition of most of our streams and rivers.

'less you carry a water filter munk :D always do that when far off in the bush folks it makes life easier.

Duly noted, Krull.
I think a lot of deer hunters get out there and see the sparkling water and because it's Fall, and so cold, they think it's clean. They get home and have the runs.

Nice pics Josh!

I like Number one especially (um, picture number one that is, I don't have a preference of one bodily function over another--wait I take it back I DO like number one better:D )

~ bueno ~

nice pictures. Once I'm done with school, I'll be out of Boston, headed for the woods .... spring '07 .... not that long really, not after 10 years...

Oh beautiful pics Josh. I wish I was scampering around those slippery rocks.

Very nice pics.

I didn't learn about what a bad idea it was to drink glacial runoff until after I'd done it a few times. I used to drink unfiltered water out of streams as well, but I'm one of those guys that usually has to learn things the hard way.

I didn't get too sick, but ameobic dysentary almost killed my uncle some time back. I think he uses filters now too.

More pics because I'm extremely bored.

Here's a wider view of that waterfall in the first pic:
