A Few Questions on the ZT 0301!

Hello BF,

I'm a fairly new member to Blade Forum, and a newbie collector. I have recently acquired a new ZT 0301, but have one issue with the knife. While playing around with my new proud and joy I noticed that there is some blade play when the knife is in closed position. I'm concerned maybe its nothing, but I'm just a detail oriented person who happen to notice this issue. When the knife is in it's folded position one can wiggle the blade from side to side inside the cavity that contains the blade while the knife is closed. Another question I have for you all ZT 030X junkies is, if you find the blade a bit of center on the right where the steel liner under the G-10 is larger than the opposite Ti side. I'm aware that the steel liner will cause the blade to have more space one the opposite side then the g-10 side, but is the blade supposed to be centered to the whole knife or centered in the space in between the steel liner and the Ti looking side. If anyone has an opinion please feel free to share the knowledge. Like I said i'm a newbie, and may be overreacting, but I just want to be share.

Thanks in Advance.

Denko

Have you tried adjusting the pivot? These knives are known for perfect centering and pickup. If the knife really flies out and tries to come out of your hand the pivot is usually too loose.

Yes and it helped, but is that normal? do you have a ZT 030X, and have you experienced any of the problems I described?

Edit: I'm sorry I did not mention the wiggle that occurs is a left-to-right wiggle. The knife locks up perfectly, and deploys even better. I just find that when the knife is folded the blade if pushed can wiggle from side to side.

I have a 300 I have owned and beat on for years (literally). And a few others. A new set of washers and torsion bar helps. Also tightening the pivot down all the way to where the knife will not even open then backing off helps "set" everything in my mind. If they are stored closed the bar wears out and it will not fling the blade out fully when the pivot is at the right tension. I store mine open in a case and replace the bars every 4 months or so. Was your knife from the older run? And do you use grease?

The knife is brand new! When I first purchased the knife I had a small rattle when the knife was open, common in all A/O knifes, and opened her up and some lithium grease inside the cavity where the torsion sits. That was a quick fix, but this wiggle inside the cavity where the blade is stored while closed is what concerns me now.

Yes but not on its own, i have apply light to medium pressure. I can force the blade at the tip to touch both the inside of the Ti lock up side and then touch the steel liner on the opposite side. I hope I'm making myself clear enough that is happening inside the space where the blade is stored while closed.

If so, that's just leverage bud.

Turk thanks. I'm sorry for being a fool and not realizing this earlier and appriacate the help. Even if it was just me being a dud. Thank you for setting me right.

It's fine bud, we all have questions and need reassurance every once in a while, that's what this awesome forum is here for. If you ever have a problem Kershaw will be more than happy to repair it for you. It moves a bit also from the framelock, my umnumzaan does it too. I love the 300 series though, been my edc for two years.
