I have been working alot lately. As such, my shop time has been almost nil. I did make it into the shop this weekend to work on several. I am posting pictures. Y'all let me know what ya think. The pictures are crappy cell phone pictures. Sorry for the quality.

These are still in progress.

Today I managed to HT 4 and temper them. The cleaver is ongoing. The knives are W1 and 5160.

I like your plunge lines. what are your methods other then using the jig there to keep them straight? I've been having trouble with mine.

The carbide set you see in the third picture. I have another set that I use for grinding. I do it free hand on a 10 wheel. Trust me. These are a vast improvement over what I have done. I was lucky enough to find a mentor who has been making knives for 30+ years. He has helped me and guided me through the learning curve. I thank you for the comment though.
As for a tip. I started on mild steel to get a feel for it. Practice on keeping your elbows in, it also helps me to do my weak side first. It is easier for me to try and match my weak side with my right hand guiding.
That is all I have. Practice, ask these guys lots of questions, visit W&C when you get frustrated. Try it again.

First time I heard weak side mentioned in reference to grinding, and its so true I rely like one side of my grinding wheel better than the other. Good advice because I always do my right side first and then curse all the way through the left side. Awesome advice.
Thanks
That first one is going to be awesome , hope you put up a pic when it's all polished out.
