A Fiddleback Forge vacation detour

That's awesome Dave. Thanks for the story and the photos.

I should probably let you know that I posted in Ken's smoke & prayers thread, that I volunteered you as indentured servant to Andy while Ken is out recovering. I hope that Suzanne doesn't mind...;)

Have a safe trip!

Phil

Cool pics Dave, and I'm glad you were able to pick up a special knife. I am also glad to see Steeler fans down there in Georgia.

Wow Dave, Nice to see some pics from inside the mothership. What a trip. Green with envy about grabbing that Blade show knife!

How cool! You sure know how to make your fellow Fiddlebackers jealous! Glad for the safe journey, the warm welcome, and of course the memento to bring you back to this moment for the rest of your life.

Cool story and pics! Thanks! Can't wait to see pics of your Fiddleback visit knife!

Thanks for sharing this with everyone Dave! You shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag though. Now we all know that all we have to do to buy the elusive hiking buddy is go on a major rode trip to the source!

Thanks Dave! I'd love to make the pilgrimage one of these days.

My credit card would have been quivering when Andy brought out the Show knives :D

Thanks for the pics Dave:thumbup:

I'm sitting in my hotel just reflecting on the opportunity. I know most non "knife people" don't get it. Some of my buddies thought I was wasting time and money for a 30 minute visit but it was well worth it to me.

It's a difficult experience to explain. At 50 years old it's embarrassing to admit but I walked in and felt like I'm meeting a celebrity. Hell I don't care to admit it, I had a great time and that is what it is all about. Suzanne kept laughing at me (in support) as she was so happy listening to me talk about the visit all evening and playing with the Hiking Buddy in the hotel.

Rock stars get young hotties as groupies. Knife makers get old fat guys!! Sorry Andy! :D

Dave, it was really great meeting you and Suzanne. I feel like my shop is quite underwhelming. LOL. Just a dirty hole in the wall by a chicken plant. You have supported me since the beginning, and I was honored to meet you.

Nice story Dave - thanks for giving us that behind the scenes tour!

Bill

Great pics Dave -- looks like it was a really cool experience; thanks for sharing!

And yes, knife makers get about +/- 1 echelon of groupie quality over comic book artists but that's about it!

Here are a few pics of my newest Hiking Buddy. The taper on this thing just disappears. It is extremely quick and nimble in hand.
