A firesteel mod inspired by Rock6

I saw that Rock6 uses a little bit of shock cord to hold his firesteel tight in his sheath on some random pictures I was looking at.

I liked the idea - but he had his simply tied. Not willing to leave good enough alone - I found some of my zipper pulls I just got from Storl and whipped up this:

The zipper pull doubles as a survival whistle. I thought this might be kinda cool for those looking to double up on gear. They are dirt cheap and super tough - I am not sure I like how big they are - but you are only adding an ounce to your knife package for a lot of security.

Anyway - thought I would share with the rest of you kids.

Oh yeah - they sort of clip into two little channels. Then you slide this other piece over the whistle and it clamps it all in place.

I'm working with rksoon on a a similar idea that involves an adjustable lanyard loop. Interesting idea using the shock cord though.

Damn! I knew I should have made a patent on that Great job making it better, I was just going to ask if that was a whistle zipper pull and now see that it is. That's why I like this place; it's the small ideas and improvements that you find on here!
