A first?

I think a great fit for you would be a VG-10 plain edge Caly 3. Easy to find, cheap to buy, great ergos, strong lock, perfect EDC steel (VG-10 is awesome stuff)...... And a sweet wire clip that will not eat your pockets up in a month or so.

go to an authorized dealer and see what feels good in your hand...what I like, you may not necessarily like, etc...pretty much can't go wrong with the two most popular brands here, Benchmade and Spyderco

I have the Griptilian 551S, which is the full-size (not mini-griptilian) with half-serrated blade...I love it more than words can describe...can be had online for around $65-$75 bucks...

I bought my buddy, a state trooper, a Cold Steel American Lawman...pretty ridiculous knife...much heavier than my BM Grip, good steel, great handle, solid lock

Funny you say that! I was just looking at a gray Griptilian!
But it only comes Plain edged...
:( to bad it has no serrations
But im still considering it.

A Spyderco Delica 4, comes in a fully serrated edge too, if you' re interested in serrations.
VG10
Light-weight
Strong lock
Quick one-hand opening
Great Ergos, very comfortable
Cheap(about 60$)

Caly 3, best all around EDC IMO
Paramilitary if you want a bigger blade and handle, highly ergonomic and very robust for its size
Centofante 3, inexpensive, light, cuts very well
Military if you want a large knife. Extremely comfortable, very thin and light for the size. Lots of good steels to choose from (S30V, BG42, CPMD2, S90V, 440V)

Griptilians are good knives, but the Caly 3 has the advantages of being smaller and more comfortable in the pocket, while the handle design gets your hand much closer to the cutting edge for enhanced control.

Not a fan of the Cricket. I don't like the blade shape. The fact that you mentioned the Cricket leads me to believe you also want a small knife too.

Maybe get a Grip ($65ish) and an additional Boker Subcom (I have one and love it) or Benchmade Benchmite 2 (both $25ish). You can probably get both for your $100 and have two different EDC options.

I agree. I'm glad you commented on that. Thats why I had a Question Mark after the Cricket, To see someone's views on it. :) Thanks!
