A folder for 3860 dollars!

Jos , awesome knife ! Do you have a spine shot of it ?

Very nice score.. Any more specs you care to share on it ? or picts ?

John,

That's the only pic I have right now, I'm in Australia since 20/6, my knives are in Belgium. When I'm back I'll make some more pics.

Kind regards,

Jos

"Art" knives are not my cup of tea but I can recognise craftsmanship when I see it. I probably wouldn't buy the piece in question but Jos can send me that knife of his any time he likes. :)

Is the knife worth it? A knife, or anything else for that matter, is worth exactly how much somebody will pay for it. If that knife has been sold, it is obviously worth that much to the buyer.

The corkscrew on that knife is beautiful. I've never seen a corkscrew done in such a manner before.

If I remember what I've read correctly, each corkscrew on an Embretsen knife takes 8 hours+ to hand file.

I don't particularly care for the knife in the first post, but would buy one of his Bartender's knives in a heartbeat if I had the money. :D

If i was a millionaire and 28000SEK was only a drop in the sea for me, then id buy it. I think it looks nice and the damascus work has taken alot of work which i can appreciate.

As my financial situation is now (and will be for the rest of my life) i could never dream of buying such a knife. Ever.

I have not nor will I ever understand "Art Knives", knives are tools that are meant to be used kinda like hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, saws, etc. I have yet to see a "Art Tool" market for art hammers, art circular saws, etc. Quite frankly I'm not sure what I'd think at a job site with someone pulling out an art hammer or gold plated diamond encrusted circular saw with genuine Bob Velia craftsman certified damascus and special makita heat treat with dawalt special triple anodized hardware, all assembled by the hands Mr. Stanley himself.

If I wanted to buy art I would buy a picture either photograph or painted, sculpture like a Remington Bronzing or something, but not a knife. I buy a knife to use as a tool, period plain and simple. In my opinion "Art Knives" are an insult to the institution known as the knife which was mans first tool and is the one of the only tool which is still essentially for survival today. Now it is obviously apparent that many here among us take the exact opposite position and think that the Art Knife is a grand form to celebrate the knife for the same reasons.

So where does that leave us, hmm, seems to me exactly where we started except now we know what side of the isle some of us sit on concerning this issue.

For the record I think the knife is unattractive or not appealing to be more PC about it and wouldn't take it if you gave it to me. I view it as useless therefore to me it is worthless. The maker being an adult must know that there are many others like me as from a Macro prospective "The Art Knife World" is probably a relatively small place. So the maker and/or others who support the maker shouldn't be upset about someone posting and saying they think its ugly.

I thought this was a knife forum for this type of discussion, this whole sensitivity thing with everybody wearing their heart on their sleeve is getting a little ridicules both in everyday life and on this site. When did we get to the point where nothing contrary to what we think or deem appropriate is hate speech or someone saying they don't like something because they think its ugly is the most horrible negative criticism imaginable and the op is a trolling no good, low down, sob and should be banned.

Were grown folks here are we not? Shouldn't we be intelligent enough to be able to talk about stuff such as this and realize that individuals have different taste and different ways to expressing such. Not to mention if you like something it doesn't mean that everyone else has to like it too and for someone not to like. Why hell there must be something wrong with this negative ahole. Its all getting a little tiring, which reminds me my fingers need a rest so I'll wrap it up.

For the record before someone else finds their delicate sensibilities red lining on the that offends me meter. I can fully appreciate the hard work and long hours spent by the maker, I fully recognize that fact, just don't care for or like it regardless of the design, quality of materials and workmanship combined with the makers sterling reputation still don't make the knife appealing to me at any price.

Not really my thing, but they look pretty sweet. I like the all damascus boy scout type knife.

Way out of my tax bracket too.

Jos that knife doesn't even have a bottle opener... :D

too spendy for something that isn't much better than a similar tool for less than $100.

Sure it's art... kind of.

lambos are performance based... you pay for handling and speed.

why would I want art when I could have performance instead?

Jeez....Rant much?

You're just as upset as the people that responded to it being called an ugly knife, and you have no better reasons to flame than they did. If we were all being "grown folks" we wouldn't get upset and rant over such trivial things as an online forum post.
