Hey guys, I work in an office setting and I'm looking for an inexpensive knife that I can clip to my shirt pocket at work. What weight would you think would work well for this? I'm thinking under 2 oz? I've been looking at the Spyderco Dragonfly and UKPK. Any other suggestions?

$100 or less is what I"m thinking. Preferably $65 or less. :)

Kershaw Scallion fits your criteria, as well as he Kershaw Chive. Also, it might help if you elaborated on what "inexpensive" means to you. Then further suggestions could be given.

Small Ripple will work nicely. I even carry the larger version in my shirt pocket on a regular basis. Small is 1.8 oz. Should be under $30.

The Kershaw Scallion is the same weight, size and blade material as the Leatherman. However it's $30 more for assisted opening

If slip a 15 pattern from Great Eastern Cutlery into my front pocket at work and it just rides in the bottom. I think traditionals can make awesome office carries: classy/beautiful, non-threatening, great slicers for most edc tasks. Otherwise it's a small sebenza with clip removed for me. I try and stay under 3 oz and 4 inches in handle.

"THE" knife you want is a CRKT Eros. The K450TXP is one of the lightest ( .8 oz.) and unobtrusive knives on the market. Under $100 if you
can find one. I carry the slightly larger, 3 inch K455TXP as my gents knife. Try one in your hand. The perfect office knife.

For a different purpose but with weight and corrossion resistance in mind I carry either CRKT Eros (3" blade Ti FrameLock IKBS flipper weighing 1.59 ounces) or Spyderco Dragonfly2 Salt (2.25" blade backlock weighing 1.21 ounces).

Good suggestion. I'll edit the OP. Thanks!

I would highly suggest the Dragonfly, but the Kershaw Leek would work well in a shirt pocket as well.

$30 more for assisted opening? And....
-14c28n sandvik vs 420hc (completely diferent, 14 28 is a MUCH bettet steel)
-completely different blade shape
-one frame lock, other is a liner lock
-flipper vs thumbstud opening
-aluminum vs frn scales

So actually they're not at all alike other than length and weight.

Lots of good options here. The newer less expensive Eros i think is a really good option. A couple other good Kershaws would be the OD2 (1oz), chill (over 3" blade @ 2oz, and the g10 hawk. I prefer slender, more narrow knives like these over a dragonfly which is a little more wide for a shirt pocket. But this is probably because of my i-need-to-eat-less-carbs-because -wider-knives-irritate-my-MAN BOOBS! HAHAHA. If youre more of a regular than xl sized kinda guy im sure you willlove the dragonfly

The titanium Eros is a great option. There is also the smaller model, which is even lighter.

Oh, my Scallion is a liner lock with frn scales. That's what I looked up. I'm going to guess the steel frame lock isn't 2.3oz either. I have both, because I'm a knife hoarder

Do you plan on clipping to the pocket or won't it fall out if you lean down to tie your shoes etc?
