A front pocket (shirt) knife?

I recently got a Sebenza 21 (small) in for my EDC blade and I really do love it. The other day a guy asked to borrow my knife and I relunctantly handed him my Sebenza. He used it and put it in his pocket while I said "hey man, can I get that back?" He apologized and said he was used to doing that with his own knife but had forgotten it. I want to get a small light utility blade that I can hand to someone else to use other than my Sebenza! :)

$30 more for assisted opening? And....
-14c28n sandvik vs 420hc (completely diferent, 14 28 is a MUCH bettet steel)
-completely different blade shape
-one frame lock, other is a liner lock
-flipper vs thumbstud opening
-aluminum vs frn scales

So actually they're not at all alike other than length and weight.

Lots of good options here. The newer less expensive Eros i think is a really good option. A couple other good Kershaws would be the OD2 (1oz), chill (over 3" blade @ 2oz, and the g10 hawk. I prefer slender, more narrow knives like these over a dragonfly which is a little more wide for a shirt pocket. But this is probably because of my i-need-to-eat-less-carbs-because -wider-knives-irritate-my-MAN BOOBS! HAHAHA. If youre more of a regular than xl sized kinda guy im sure you willlove the dragonfly

The dragonfly (and a lot of Spydercos) are knives that I usually avoid because they aren't slim. That blade sticks out a bit. I am more like an XXXL kind of guy too. But the Dragonfly gets rave reviews and looks to be a solid knife in such a small package!

Yea. My only gripe would be with the width. And i say that in relation to the others because its not a wide knife, generally speaking, esp. in relation to otther Spydercos. I dont think myself or many here would have a single negative thing to say about it functionally. On the plus side, the dragonfly gives you the option of really great steel such as vg10 and zdp189. While there are more fashionable super steels out there, vg10 is still probably my fav all rounder. The higher end CRKT Ripple and Eros are Acuto+ which I think is supppsed to be like vg10 but dont have experience with it. Others who do please chime in. Now im curious...

It's not in your price range but the Richard Rogers Sharpy is LITERALLY the best knife for front pocket carry.

UKPK could be "disguised"as a pen, too with the wire clip. Very light too, you don't want a heavy knife in your shirt pocket

How about a SOG Access Card 2.0? I mostly use mine at my desk, but it carries real easy. Not a bad little knife. It is fairly wide however. I do like the little Spydercos. Since I am mentioning SOGs, the Blink and Twitch II would work also. The Twitch II is very slim and the Blink very flat. Been a long time since I messed with either of those knives, but back when I bought them (approaching 10 years ago now), I thought them nice little practical knives.

First off, thanks to everyone for the responses.

I can't recommend the Dragonfly FRN enough, it disappears in your pockets

I bought the G10 version last night. Found a good deal and I think it will look a bit classier in the office environment. I really don't "need" another folder as I'm VERY happy with my Sebenza but this will be perfect if someone needs to borrow a knife at work (which happens).

That's neat!

Yea, I really dig the UKPK with the drop point blade. I bought a dragonfly G10 to try. I may need to try both and see which I like better.

The G10 Dragonfly is a great knife, but it seems too heavy for front shirt pocket carry. At least for me. It is almost twice the weight of the FRN model. For pant pocket carry, however, it is perfect in an office setting.

In the beginning of my office career I remember I tried to carry a pen in my shirt pocket, but abandoned it really quickly: it does not matter how nice the pen is, it neither looks no feels right. Office shirt is not designed for carrying anything in its pocket. If you work in an office and what to look professional: do not carry anything in a shirt pocket, even CRKT Swindle. That's my recommendation.

I have two smallish, very lightweight carry knives. Spyderco Dragonfly ZDP-189 and Benchmade 530 (154cm). Both have been excellent knives, though the 530 has over an inch on the dfly in blade length. In the year I've owned it, the ZDP-189 has been phenomenal. Still haven't even had to strop it.

LionSteel Opera is nice too, lightweight gentlemans knife.

It may be and if so I may grab the FRN. Or I may just carry my Sebenza in my right pocket and the Dragonfly in my left.

It's business casual where I work and will be fine.

As much as I dig BM I'm just not sold on the 530. I thought about getting the ZDP model. I may have to.

If you're doing "desk-duty" all day, then I guess it would work. I carried a calculator and several pens, six-inch plastic or metal ruler and a mechanical pencil in the pocket of my dress-shirt or lab-coat for 35 yrs. Sport-coat hung on a hook in my office; I moved around a lot.
