A fun new woods chopper--Friedrich Dick "Italien Messer" cleaver!

Heeheehee you'll love it! It's a beast, and has lots of room for mods--or use it as-is! The only thing I've done to mine so far is thin the factory edge a little, since it comes configured for chopping bone. Only about as hard to work as a machete, so the work went quick. :)

I am now the proud owner of the Italien Messer. May god have mercy on our souls.

You're not kidding when you say it's a beast! The pictures don't quite convey its size. I think it has it's own gravitational field! I don't often say this, but I think everyone should own one of these. This was truly built to "Cleave in twain" or "Rend asunder."

Bwahahaha! Glad it made it to you safe and sound! Isn't it just so AWESOME!? I love mine. :D :D :D

Edit to add: Oh yeah--take pics!:thumbup:

Any plans for a special grade on these? Just for those of us that want one, but may not have the skills/tools for thinning out that monster?

The only reason why it doesn't have it as an option at the moment is that it has such a nice finish and the pricing for the special grade would depend on how high I bring the polish. I may have to do "Special Grade" and "Special Grade+" as options so one is just the thinned edge and one is the edge thinned and the coarse scratches removed. For now, feel free to shoot me a PM and we can discuss options. :)

By the way I finally got around to experimenting with doing additional shaping work to the handle and it seems that the scales are made of some sort of solid glass-filled nylon, and it shapes in a a nice and controlled manner. Use a file for any initial shaping work and polish it up with 600 grit sandpaper and you can hardly tell any work was done.

Special Grade work is now an available option on 'em. I'll be sending one out to JRE Industries soon to get fitted for a sheath template. :)

Verrry nice...now if I can just convince the wife that this is just another in a long line of 'necessary' purchases, I'll be on board!! :D

Well...It's squash season...and the easiest way to cut them up is to chop them open and scoop out the guts. The woody exterior is tough for most kitchen knives to get through. A cleaver will do it no problem! :D
