A.G. Russell Deer Hunter (VG10 steel) VS. Spyderco Moran Featherweight (drop point):
Which would you choose for general camping chores and food preparing?
And what about their sheaths?
Any suggestion will be appreciated!
Thanks

I had the Spyderco in trailing point, and the deerhunter in, I think, AUS8a. I gave away the deerhunter and kept the Spyderco. It's hard to say why I made the choice. They are both good lightweight knives. I like the overall feel and the handle of the Spyderco a little better.

I love both knives. For me, I love the Deerhunter's classic loveless-shaped handle. The Spyderco isn't as comfortable or as secure in my hand. You won't go wrong with either knife.

I own both knives as I prefer thin blade stock for its cutting ability.......I have never understood the trend of thicker and thicker blade stock in most fixed blades on the market today.I think if you used one of the thinner blades (DH and Moran DP)for a while you would be impressed.

The sheaths of both knives are EXCELLENT for factory offerings, though the Moran's has more options as to carry, the DH's thumbolt system is quite inovative.

It is a tough choice as BOTH are great knives,I would also recomend checking out Queen Canoe in D2....less than half the price and similar quality,(so so sheath though).

PS solved Queen sheath deficiency with Grohmann #1 sheath I had on hand, perfect fit!
