Hello,

Father's Day is apporaching and I am looking to get my father a nice new knife as a gift. He used to own an original Sting back in the day and likes the design. I thought about getting him the remake from CRKT, but a more practical folder would be better for EDC. And so, I have narrowed my choices down to two: the Folding Sting, or the Frame-Lock spear point that looks similar to a Sting. From what I can tell, the only difference between the two is the blade grind. The folding Sting has a false edge, while the spear point version only has a single edge. Other than that, are there any differences that would make the folding Sting $50 more than the spear point?

Although the original looks better, I think that the spear point version would be a much better cutter therefore a more useful knife than the other.

Welcome to Bladeforums, jason.

You're a good son! For EDC, the flat-ground spear point is better than the Folding Sting dagger version. Except for the blade shape, they are the same knife.

I bet they're both made by Camillus -- they look a lot like the CUDA Maxx in a smaller size.

Thanks for your inputs! Glad to know the cheaper of the two is better for EDC :D It's such a nice looking knife, I think I'll order myself one at the same time!
