Barrett, excellent observation! That is actually one thing that I meant to include in my review but I forgot. It's one of the things that I might not like about that blade but only actual use will determine that. My thoughts are that with the edge being lower than the kick, the back end of the edge might get snagged on the material being cut if I push the blade in too far. I've had some modern knives that this has happened with and I'm hoping it's not a problem with this one as I find it rather irritating. With short blades like this I have a habit of using the bolster's tip as the stopping point when making forward cuts.
When the kick is lower than the edge it helps to prevent this snagging. I'll test this out tomorrow when opening some sealed boxes. Thanks for bringing this up.:thumbup:
