I've had this beast for a while now. And I went out and took some pictures of it this morning. Thought you guys might enjoy them:

Nice pictures, and a nice knife for sure. It's too big for me, but hopefully soon a smaller version will come out (just like for the Gunstock) so it might enter my radar :)
One question about this knife: is it comfy to use? My impression is that the closed blade sits a bit too high and interferes with the comfort of the handle shape. I know there's a single blade version as well, to avoid this thing...but I was curious to hear your thoughts.

Nice shots LX:thumbup:
You just helped pick the single blade out for me!
Got the brown rucarta 2 blade when they came out. Didn't like the grip at first, blade backs were too sharp... a little sanding to round the edges and it's much better now :)

Now I think a single Warnie is in my future...

I love big knives... I'm waiting patiently to pick-up my single blade Wharnie in yellow delrin that's waiting for me at the border in Laredo. Thanks for the in-hand and close-up fotos. I really like the looks of its fit and finish from here.

I remember reading a comment from A.G. Russell somewhere that he was indeed planning on making a smaller version. Don't know when that'll be.

And yes, the closed blade somewhat interferes in gripping it heavily. If the single bladed versions had been out back when I bought mine I'd have gone for one of those exactly for that reason.

They just did a good write-up of AG's traditionals in the May issue of TACTICAL KNIVES. Nice big knives for sure.

Great pics!

I really like that wharnie! It makes such a nice form to the sowbelly handles of that one (I can hardly explain in english language).

Kind regards
Andi

A.G. Russell has been putting out some very nice brand name knives from what I've seen lately.

I have the same knife but in Rucarta. Besides a unique and incredibly well thought out design, the fit and finish on these is way above all other production knives being made, except for the other big AGR folders that are coming from the same manufacturer. It's as perfect and with as tight tolerances as my $500+ Customs. It easily surpasses the Case/Bose Collabs.

Yeah, but designed commissioned and sold by an all american company. You feel the need to whine about country of origin how about you go spoil someone else's thread.

No SH*T. Enough of that crap.

That's a mighty fine looking knife, and I was really looking it over when the first pics came to the forum. Almost bit. I was worried about the hand grip with blades that large, and couldn't tell if the closed blade would make things uncomfortable when using it. Of course, that single wharncliffe bladed jewel solved that problem... damnit!

I have just put in an order for my first Russell knife, and I am really looking forward to getting it. It's the smaller wharncliffe in 12C27. I haven't seen this exact knife on the forum, but it is the one that is 3 5/8" closed, with a three inch blade. Looked too good to pass up with all white bone scales and a large bolster to make it a good working knife.

The hard decision there was getting over the zulu spear blade design in this same model series. I finally worked out that the spear blade was the same as on a couple of other folders I have, so I went with the wharnie. But if I like it as much as I think I will, I am sure I will "need" another spear point!

Can't wait!

Hahaha, that's an excellent choice as well.

this is mine.

I was doubting between the amber bone and the white....now i want a zulu in white as well...to match and differ.

Oh my... isn't that a little gem. I really like the attention they are taking with that bone to get it just right. Colors perfect, and buffed out just right.

But if I get the zulu as well, I would probably go with the white bone on that as well as I would like to have a knife age along with me. I have seen some old, old, white bone knives and they scales look spectacular after they have been used for a few years.

Mine should be here next week... !!

Calm down. I was just surprised it was made in China as it is a nice looking knife. If you are offended by it being made in China, that seems like a personal problem of yours not mine.
