A.G. Russell pinched peanut, or not?

I just got a reply from the A.G. Russell contact email, and apparently the shield is glued in! Very surprising.

Well, that's a little disappointing... The shield on mine is fit extremely well where I wouldn't have thought glue was used, along with the hole that matches up to the middle of the shield. Thankfully, I've never had a shield fall out. And I only have one knife that has a sloppy glue job. It was the first non SAK traditional I bought myself and it hasn't stopped me from buying more traditionals or from that company.

I wonder if they ever switched from pinning to gluing? The hole in the back of the liner would suggest it being pinned...

In any case, as long as they are done properly glued in shields shouldn't fall out. I've dropped knifes onto concrete and the shield has been fine. I just found it interesting that on the AG Russell's they were glued.
