I never know whether to post these in the Traditional forums or here. Usually I do it in the Traditional forums. But I thought I'd give it a shot here.

Yesterday I got my 2013 Texas Ranger. Making my collection of them up to 6 pieces so far. It's a BEAST of a knife (as usual) and I thought I'd share some pictures with you guys.

Knife in it's sheath:

I love these knives. Almost 1/4" thick steel. Micarta.

Here's the rest of the gang so far:

Well it took me a while to gather them all. But you can still find them on eBay every now and then. And the 2012 version is still available and that's a beast too.

Nice looking knife sold by one of the oldest, most respected names in the American knife industry honoring one of the oldest and most respected names in American law enforcement. How ironic it wasn't made by one of the oldest, most respected knife manufacturing companies. Oh well.

How'd I miss the release of this beast? I've been waiting to see what it would be. Wow, it's huge, but I guess that's not really surprising, as the trend continues.

I have the 2nd of the newer style (2009) in hand, and it's just huge. I love how the backspring is so gentle that you can open these one-handed, yet the lock-up is rock solid.

I may have to pick this one up. The 2012 is awesome, as well, and may make it into my collection.

if he'd have had it US made it'd be quadruple the price and no one would be able to afford it.

There are no easy choices.

Quadruple? That would make it (goes off to see what they sell for. . . .) $380.00. Well, no, and my opinion of charging $95 for a Chinese made knife would send this thread even further off track so I'll bow out at this time. Have a nice day.

That's the price of a sebenza nearly. No way you could tell me there's the amount of work and materials in this close to that.

quality is expensive my friends.

And when AG had something made you know it's quality. And seeing the mechanism, and the fit and finish. I'll believe that it would be a LOT more expensive when produced in the US.

But please try not to turn this into a China bashing thread. There really is no need for that.

Great looking knife. The only one I have is the big sunfish pattern, but I believe I like the look of this one even better!

When done by one of the bigger US makers. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was. With the bolsters, the lockback and everything I suspect this one is a lot more complex than an actual Sebenza. Complexity = higher price

These knives are awesome. I don't have any of the Rangers, but I have the regular brown Rucarta Sunfish. Very solid and beautifully finished. Nice collection.

Or the gec, case, and queen lockbacks that retail for around that price.... wonder where they're made.

really? Ask them what a knife of similar size with stainless hardware and fit and finish tighter than that of their Northfield line with a new type of lockback system would cost and then get back to me.

I'll bet you it's a $300 minimum.

And if it's not then AG will be delighted to hear that and probably switch his production to them.

Why would he. He's got an internet defense force for defending the chinese production and it would effect the bottom line by a margin. I wonder how Benchmade can in the US make a large backlock with tight tolerances and micarta handles for around $90.

Mr. Russell has an incredible reputation and his company has one of the of the best warranties/guarantees going so he doesn't require defending. Period.

I'm sure he'll chime in any second himself. AG Loves having knives made in the US. And you seem to know something he doesn't with his almost 70 years of experience in the knife business.

so if you're so angry about it you might want to talk to him personally about it. He's usually quite open to suggestions.

Now would you please be so kind and stop crusading against China made knives in this thread?
