As a matter of fact, not only are they proud of their heritage and of the way they are called, they also are probably the most connected with their knives among all Brazilian people, maybe just as much as the Northeastern people, though those don't seem to care much about what they use, they seem to care more about if it does get the job done or not.
Nou us from the Shoutheast are too modern and sophisticated to care about these silly stuff of traditions, it seems, so we basically have thrown them away - though there is a new interest in them in all areas that seems to be getting stronger now, but developing very slowly.
