I have watched several give aways but haven't seen much for the kids of the forum posters. I picked up this KutMaster Girl Scout knife some years ago simply because it was there at a garage sale. I think it is time it found a home with a girl who will appreciate it. No it isn't a high priced knife but it is a nice example of it's type. Here are the contest rules.

1. You must have a daughter under the age of 18.
2. She must post who is their favorite patriot (not football players...lol) and explain why.
3. She must post her favorite patriotic quote and explain why it is her favorite.

These can be very simple answers, for example

1. My brother because he is serving in the military to help our country stay free.
2. This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. ~Elmer Davis ... This quote explains that we are each responsible for our own freedom and we must be willing to earn it.

As you can see no essays are required...just simple answers. My daughter will be the judge of the winner and this contest will run till midnight March 23. I truly hope there are enough entries to make it hard for my daughter to judge

My girls are only 5, so I can't really participate.

But this is a fine idea for a contest, and a very nice knife as well.

There isn't a age limit if you feel the girls understand the concept of a patriot, I am sure for example they know who George Washington is.

I don't have a daughter. But I just want to thank you for your generousity and doing something for the kids.

My youngest of 4 daughters is 30, so I'm out. But just wanted to say what a nice offering this is. Your one of the good guys Ab.

My 11 yr old Girl Scout declared herself ineligible because we already have one like that. Her favorite patriot is a young man named Noah who served 15 months in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard, a friend of a friend, to whom we sent several care packages. She can't come up with a quote (11, what can I say).
Thanks for putting this out.

I would point out that being a Girl Scout is not a requirement...also nieces are more than welcome to join in.

Good contest! I'm looking forward to reading the winning entries. (My baby girl doesn't qualify because she's 26. ;) )

Great idea.
I have a 10 year old. I will have her answer tonight.
A scout knife would change her image. I think she frightens the neighbors. Here is her picture (from a couple years back):

Very nice of you. I have been looking for something nice for my daughters. I have two, 7 & 10 and they both would be appreciative. I will have them write something up tonight for entry into the give away. can each of them enter or is it 1 chance per family?

No daughters to enter the contest but I do have another picture of a Girl Scout knife to mayhaps inspire some young ladies to enter Absintheur's generous contest.

All right here we go got my almost 12 Yr old daughter, (Man I'm a proud PAPA:D) to sit down and put one here. Thanks Absintheur for the chance!!!

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
~Lee Greenwood

I chose this quote not only because it was my favorite but because I truly am proud to be an American and I will never forget that I am free and all the other people in other countries do not have as many rights. I am also truly grateful for all the men that fought to give that right to me, and all the men and woman fighting right now to keep that right.

I don’t just have one favorite patriot, I have several. Every single man and woman fighting in Iraq to keep our country’s freedom is a brave, loving, and caring person. Every day there are people dying just so we can keep the freedom that we have had for a very long time, and hopefully a very very long time to come. :)

:) The only thing I could think of after reading the rules is. To be fair I have a give away for those who have daughters over the age of 18. :) Yeah I know bad on me.

I am entering my two girls under 18.
When they come to visit me, we will fill out together.
My 12 year old will need help with the English, she speaks but does not write it.
My 16 year old will write for herself.

Thanks for the kind offer.

All right hear is my 10 year old granddaudhter.

My father who is serving in Alfganastan

my we allways be on the right side
for that is the lords side and he makes this country great

Incredible contest here Absintheur!. Very fine idea. Thanks for putting it together for the young daughters of the members here in your little community.. OK, I just submitted the rules to my 11 year old daughter and she is busy writing down her entry as we speak so she can deliver it here to you personally..

Thanks again,
Anthony

hi, my name is Cristen and i would like to thank you for the opportunity to be included in your contest. i love to hear my dad talk about his grandfather who served in the 1st world war as a medic in the us army. my dads grandad which also makes him my great-grandad whos name was Candeloro Ettorre is my favorite patriot choice because of all the lives he helped save on the battlefield and other heroic stories i have heard my father tell about this man.

my favorite patriot quote is from, Henry Ward Beecher <> "A thoughtful mind, when it sees a nations flag, sees not the flag only, but the nation itself; and what ever maybe its symbols, its insignia, he reads chiefly in the flag the government, the principles, the truths, the history which belongs to the nation that sets fourth."
