Here is why a couple of us were recommending Kershaw. Here is the Izula (purple) with the Kershaw 1081 Field Knife.

Notice that the actual handle from the finger guard to the rear are nearly identical in length. Also, the grips are slim and would fit your wife's small hand nicely.
The Kershaw has a deep belly and deep hollow grind for slicing. It also has a better point for piercing. The Izula was designed for survival and the 1081 for general whatever-may-come use.

The spines are the same thickness but the 1081 is thicker farther along the spine.

Here they are with their shealths.

The first slice on this apple the Izula did not penetrate and glanced off. In the next photo you can see that when it did slice the apple slices were broken. The Izula is not the best slicer.

The Kershaw 1081 made short work of the apple, cutting very thin, unbroken slices.

So, based on the fact your wife might do camp chores, cut food, fuzz sticks, (dress a deer?), I think the 1081 or smaller 1080 from Kershaw is the best bet.

Becker BK16 with the FFG. Better slicer if you strip the coating as well.

Well, I can tell you the knife MY wife wants really bad... The Tops Lioness:

I'm getting her one on payday!

Wow.... Didn't know this thread was this old.....

Well, my ol lady still wants a Lioness!

Jeff White Bush 1. Excellent knife, thin stock, very light in hand. All for 45 bucks...

All great suggestions. Another to consider for a woman is the little Buck 102. I was told that it's....cute. :D I've passed an interested eye over that Kershaw myself.

My wives get a nice Arno Bernard custom prior to getting the house..

Good knife---good wife---good life.

:stupid:

That is one slick Kershaw. Hadn't seen it before.

Minor correction---it is the "Kershaw Field Knife Hunter 3-1/4," in case anyone else wants to look it up. Looks like the 1081 is a smaller 2" caping blade.

Thank you for posting that...gonna buy one. And it WOULD make a great wifeknife.

Oops! I should really wear my reading glasses more often. That knife is the 1082. It also comes in orange http://www.knifeworks.com/kershawfieldknifehunterstonewashbladeblackg-10handle-1.aspx#.VAyBXsKSwb4

The 1080 is the Izula size and the 1081 is the Candiru size. Wonderful knives that cut great.

I just gave my GF a Kershaw Skinner 1080 for Christams and liked it so much I bought one for myself. Solid little knife for ~$30.

A knife that was actually designed for a females hand is the tops lioness. The only thing about it is the flashy pink blade, but it is a nice knife. Tops knives are really strong, my father has the hog 4.5 and it is indestructible.

Esee Izula Pink Fixed Blade Knife, 2.5in, Drop Point, Skeletonized Handle RCIP with some pink 550 paracord on the handle. (Fixed)

Remington F.A.S.T. Camo Folder Knife (Small, Mossy Oak Pink/Black) (Folding)

ON8862 Ontario RAT II Satin Blade Folder With Pink Handle (Folding)

Here is a hell of a knife for her: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1065331-Anza-Knives-Mother-s-Day-Special This would be perfect for smaller hands. If it's pretty she might like it more if it's her first knife. The purple one is perfect imho

Just some ideas

First time I saw it, it looked handy and I really liked it, even though it was targeting the ladies with pink color.

If I recall correctly, they released a later, non-pink model.

My other half has drafted my fallkniven kolt into her service. It's a great knife, good dimensions and ergos for its size. The supplied sheath works well for what it is. The laminated cobalt steel blade is awesome and holds a great edge for a long time. I consistently carry a Fallkniven juni and love it. 3G steel is phenomenal. Lots of choices out there n finding the right one is half the fun. Good luck and enjoy

Good choice w/ the izula. Izula I, izula II, or bk14... You can't go wrong.
