Hi everyone,I'm looking for recommendations/suggestions on a good quality Wharncliffe folding knife. It's one of my favorite blade shapes & I just realized I don't have one.

What I'm looking for-$100-$160,3"-4" Blade,Lightweight overall,A "True" Wharncliffe blade,SS blade,pocket clip,preferably anything BUT a linerlock.

What I'm NOT looking for-skeleton handles, combo or serrated blades,A slip-joint,"Fancy,Over the top" designs.

Thanks in advance for your helpful suggestions:)

Take care,

I should've mentioned I'm partial to natural handles...ie-wood,bone,stag,etc

You may want to look at the various Kershaw Leeks. Mine has a liner lock and the speed safe opening, but I believe they're available in a framelock.

I have a couple of leeks.They're great knives,but not Wharncliffes.Even the random leek(which I have) isn't a wharncliffe blade.It's more of a modified(or reverse) tanto.

Thanks:)

Yeah I seen them in A.G. Russells catalog. They look really nice, but I'm not ready to shell out $400-$500 for one.

Thanks,

I feel you there. I think the one I posted is just under $300.

There doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground in the wharncliffes.

You can get the Centofante 4 and for the remaning part of your budget send it to one of the forum customizers to replace the handle material.
I recommend STR if he's available. He's really a great guy, a pleasure to work with and he does fantastic modifications.

I'm not sure if this is a style you'd be interested in , but I bought this a year or so ago.

It's made by Paul Chen and the model is called the "Sheffield Style Folder". It's not what I'd call a real heavy duty knife , but it's well made and nice looking too. It can be found for under $100.00.

How about a Benchmade 921 or 440? You can still find the 921 around and it looks good and even has a little slip joint blade to go with it. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

Boker/CLB designed "Wharcom". Compact, framelock with tip up or down carry options for the pocket clip. A great little utility piece that rides great in the pocket. Well under the price you mentioned.

JPD1998,That is almost exactly what I'm looking for:thumbup:

couple a Q's if you don't mind.

What type of materials were used for the handles/blade/liners & bolsters?

What are the dimentions?

How thick is the linerlock?

Sorry for all the questions.Take your time answering if you can...hours,days,weeks,no rush :)

That is one unique looking knife you got there.;):thumbup:

+1:thumbup: It's on the list.I have the sub-com(black blade,gray G-10)..sometimes use it as a money clip.

I'm looking for 3"+ blades for now.

great advice:thumbup: & he is a great guy & does amazing work, but he is pretty backed up;)

At least that's what he told me a short time ago.

The Centofante 4 is good. If you don't mind the style and G10 handles the Yojimbo handles quite well.

The frame and bolsters are both stainless steel. The engraving on the bolsters actually looks hand done, but I don't know for sure. The scales are real stag.

The blade is 440C.

It's 4" closed and 7" open ( the blade is 3").

The lock is pretty unique , if you look at the picture you can see a little wheel behind the stud. The wheel rides along a groove in the bolster as the blade is opening and then locks into an indentation. The stud slides forward to unlock the blade.
