A good user

Could you be a little more specific? What do you wish to learn? Kendo? Kumdo? Iaido? Kenjutsu? Western Martial Arts?
 
I take it you already got your sticks. From what Ive experienced FMA is pretty liberal on the edge weapons you can use since most of the principals will carry through. So any particularly decent knife or large blade. Alota people use KC stuff or HI stuff. Id wait and ask your teacher first. I use personally alota my antiques for just prancing around like a fool, but not for any real cutting exercises since I wouldnt want to damage them. However KC are reasonably cheap and decent blades, HI are extremely tough and nice blades but primarily Khukris though. I suppose what kinda stuff are you really in the mood for. You could always just use a machete.
 
I second the vote for Kris Cutlery. A lot of folks that have their stuff seem to be very pleased with it.
