Being a moderator is difficult. You are stuck trying to find a balance between strictly enforcing every iota of the rules and just letting everything go. It is hard to phrase anything so that what comes across is exactly what you meant. And no matter how you phrase your corrections, some folks will take offence to it. If you have not been a moderator, you have no frickin' idea of how difficult it is and how much time you are forced to donate to do it.
One thing I have learned in twelve years posting on this forum: people come, people go. Among those who leave, some leave because they can't handle being corrected. It happens. A couple of you have posted about needing a thick skin to post on the internet. There is a certain amount of truth to that. Especially, if one is going to post without having read the rules or doing some reading first to get the hang of the place, then a certain amount of correction, public or otherwise is not unlikely.
Had a pastor once who used to talk about church people who were so "holy" that they would indulge in having roast pastor for Sunday dinner every night. Because all the faults were 100% his. Never theirs. Think this particular roast is done.
