A Great Small Christmas Knife

Biggest feeding frenzy I've seen in recent times. I enjoyed it immensely.
The water is starting to clear, most of the shark blood is gone, wonder what tomorrow will bring.?
I sure do love this place.

The smell of these small knives got a whole lot more attention than the $595 snack that went in the water couple of days ago.

Are you surprised?
The small ones are just more affordable and available in higher numbers therefore they are bought in higher numbers and talked about more by more people. The one $595 could only be bought by one person and only if that one person has enough cash or stopped going to Starbucks for a week ;)

Wonder how fast patina would form if I use them to cut onions. What kind of steel are they made of? From leaf spring? There is also no butt cap , so I guess its not a heavy duty knife. Meant to be for light usage.

They are made of the same steel and in the same way as their big brothers.
As far as letter openers go, they are as tough as they come.

Tks Karda. I was just reading an article by late Mr Martino. He mentioned that HI khukiris are made with butt cap and hence they can last for many years and also the blade itself. But those without butt cap the handle might last for ard 3-5 yrs(should be for heavy usage ) but the steel itself can last for many years to come. I intend to use them for petty task in the kitchen. By knowing the intended purpose of this beautifully made knife would ensure that it can last for a longer period. In any case, for this price that I am paying, if it can last for a few years, it is already well worth its price.

Most of them are worth the price even if all you do is admire the workmanship and scratch your head and wonder how they did that. Genuine art forms that do a lot of work if you need to.

u are right Bawanna. Btw I notice that u also have a Bowie which is your EDC. I ve recd mine. Beautiful design. Love them!

I have never busted a karda (I mean the small knife, not our forum friend....of course I've never busted him either;)). For general kitchen tasks, these knives should be serving your grandchildren well if even marginally cared for.

One of my favorite bruiser pairing knives is a custom karda made by Pala. It probably only has an inch and a half of tang. Should last forever ;). Biltons are every bit as tough as my beloved mora knives.

Tks for sharing. I will treat it like a wa-handle Japanese knife. It should need lots of care to prevent rusting in kitchen use.

I should post a pic of my Pala Karda. Boy howdy is it USED:D
All I have done is treat the wood so it will stand up to routine hand washing. The blade is positively mottled gray from meat juice and acid fruit. The only part that is polished is the edge. It gets crazy sharp:)

Just don't throw it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking in the sink, and it'll outlast you:)
For a kitchen utility knife, you can't beat it for the price.

Putting a butt cap on such a tiny knife would be pointless. I intend to put mine to hard use. I used to think a knife had to be full tang or at least rat-tail tang to be a "hard use" knife, but most large south east asian knives (parangs/goloks/etc) are partial tang and the locals there certainly beat on them harder than any of us ever will.

Ahhh! Im jealous Phillll! Pics? I cant wait to see mine! Aunti is holding on to mine cause I got something special that is coming with it. Should be headed my way soon!
Got my KLVFVKK today and it is a sweet little knife!
