Any help here? I was doing a little knife testing with a green coconut and my Busse BushWacker Battle Mistress CF got all grey!

I washed it off with soap and water and oiled it, but to no avail.

Please help!!!!

Its a patina I would assume. I cant see the pics though. You can polish it off Or just leave it on the blade, it protects from rust and looks cool sometimes.

If you want a stainless blade, buy a stainless blade.

If you want a tough, hard uses blade, use your Busse and don't cry about a bit of patina.

Does Jerry's warranty cover this level of extensive damage? I've never seen such a catastrophic product failure. Better call Busse 911. I'm not sure there is anything they can do to help, but at this point what do you have to lose?
Seriously...I'm having trouble being polite on this one.

@big mike
Nice. I cry a lot.

It's just forming a little bit of a patina. A patina is a form of oxidation that helps prevent red rust from forming.

Your patina is a good thing and show us knife knuts that you actually use your blade. Keep letting it form. It's beneficial and also looks badass at the same time!

If you just absolutely hate it, then you can polish it off with a brasso pad or possibly some metal polish like mothers mag.

OK, ok, ok I get it. It is not a "catastrophic product failure". I guess the "Please help!!!" was a little melodramatic, but then this was a request for a recommendation not a desperate cry from woe-ville.

It just was surprising. I mean I was on my back porch, not in the bush, and I only cut the coconut with the blade twice.

As was mentioned , it's made from carbon steel. They stain. It's not really surprising if you know what they are about.

Well, OK - As long as your spent fuel rods are kept covered and there are no cruse-missles headed your way,

...try a little Flitz or other metal polish.

INFI isn't stainless by any stretch, but it is surprisingly stain resistant to most things. You can do a couple things here:
1- Send it back to Busse and have them buff it out. WHen you get it back, apply some Ren Wax to the blade and it should seal it.
2- Grab some Mothers polish and go to town on it yourself.
3- Keep using the knife as it was intended, don;t sweat the patina. It's not going to ruin the blade.
Good Luck.

#'s 2 and 3, I was coming to the same conclusions.
Thanks to all:cool:

That’s just part of having a hard use knife. That looks like a patina on your blade, mine got some black spots some time ago, I just think it gives it character.

As long as it cuts, I wouldn’t worry about it. :D
