I have light weight field sharp edge Amar Singh Thapa in stock.
m43 gets my vote.
for field work it just takes a bit mroe abuse, especially if your technique - wich is crutial for a khuk - is not well trained yet. once you feel comfortable with the m43 then get a lighter one and only bust out the m43 for heavy work. plus it trains your arm muscels and makes girls swoon![]()
Howard Wallace is very wise to ask you those questions:im waiting for the next DOTD, hollow grind looks nice but I dont want to chip such a fine blade like the Gelbu; that leaves me the the Siru and Chitilangi.
M43 still in consideration but from what I've read the weight has gone up over the years.
I think the shearing angled blade of the basic Kukri design with always out cut/chop a push cut design of similar weights. To compare the Japanese thin single purpose design Katana/Wakizashi blade with the multipurpose thicker Kukri is unfair. It is like an apples to oranges comparison.I have a chit very nice fast blade!
There was a review by a MA guy on the Sirupati's a good while back. He was flat out blown away by the siru's performance. He found the 18" siru's cut as well as a full size katana...the 15" siru's outperformed an 18" wakizashi.
