Great pics man. Id say you need more prep. A hat full of nice thin shavings, and a pile of scrapings the size of a golf ball or bigger. More prep usually helps me when its damp, and really helped me with the whole skill. More prep, more prep, more prep......:D

Keep at it..... I can imagine a one stick isnt easy in BC.

Thanks for the feedback. I probably shoulda gotten some more scrapings for the second fire, might've been able to coax it into a flame. The first one I think the wood was too green to get scrapings to catch a spark anyways, so I jumped right into the easy tinder. Shavings are always something I need more of. If I don't get a fire on the first try, that's usually why. I don't wanna get wood chips stuck in my wool toque though, and it's harder to judge the amount using a bandana:p.
