Thanks everyone for the comments, I feel blessed to live the life I do, in all aspects
Puukkoman, that is a MSR Pocket Rocket, I have had for almost 10 years. I like butane mix much more than white gas, unless we are camped out in 10 F or below
Kris,
thank you for thread and pictures, and for taking us along with you on your hike.
I'm not a climber, but I do hike, and every time I see your pictures, I feel a little envy. We have awesome landscapes here, but they're different, and I really hope that, someday, I will get the chance to see your part of the US and walk around a bit. Many people where I live tend to consider the US as a country made of big modern cities and want to travel there just for that. But I've been to the US more than once, and even though I loved NYC (just to make an example), I wouldn't trade any American city with the places you hike...and your knives always add something to the recipe
Kris,
thank you for the 2014 update you surely live in an area of beautiful landscapes and nature.
Sometimes, we develop an emotional bond to a special place, even if we don't know the reason for it. I have a couple similar spots myself, so I think I understand the feeling of coming back there every year
