A horror story: I almost missed the Q

Here's something that I hope never happens to you:

Last night -- Friday, August 11, 2000 -- I was looking through "bladeforums" old threads when something jolted something in my memory that I forgot to do. Like when you're at work and ask yourself if you remembered to lock the doors when you left.

I just remembered that I forgot to buy that Spyderco Q (with the cut-out web in blade and handle) that I was planning two years ago! At the time, I knew they were being discontinued so I was waiting for a sale at my local knife store. Yet, I had forgotten until now.

Yikes! I know it's no custom, one of a kind Sebenza. But the Q is something I've always wanted; kind of like the head cheerleader in high-school.

I checked the net. No one has it advertised. I phoned my local big, chain knife-store. "Sorry. None left." What about e-bay? Yes, but there are people jacking up the prices by calling it "collectible". "Collectible"? C'mon it's discontinued. Give me a break!

But then...the clouds parted and I could hear the angels sing! I got an e-mail back from Brian at Discount Knives saying he has two left from old stock. I know I should get them both but I snapped up the fully serrated one (I need a serrated knife).

Was that close or what? I don't know if there is a lesson to be learned here. I'm just happy I finally got my Spyderco Q. Now to work on the cheerleader from high-school. I wonder if she's married by now?

She's probably divorced already...
