A HUGE Thanx, Sal!

Congrats! That's a great collection you've got, and a nice addition. I like that they've added tip-up carry as an option.

Spyderco! Sal is the man.

Not that I needed another reason to always buy Spyderco knives. :D

Fantastic Jack! Wonderful supprise. I've been admiring that knife since I first saw a pic of it a few days ago. On my short list of Spydies to aquire.

Sal sure is a class act!

I just ordered one from blade HQ. Does anyone think the pinned vs screw is a bid deal? Seems from the picture above all his calys are like that. I'm guessing its because they are so thin but I don't know? I read somewhere else cheaper knives are pinned but this knifes finish is superb.

Congrats!! Shows what a class at Sal and the whole Spyder crew is!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Jack,
Enjoy the knife. Sorry to hear about your car. Sal is a class act.
I do miss the radiused edges and smooth finish of the old one, though.
This is the one out of two things, which I miss. The second will be a smooth finish on scales. And I love addition of liners. I even like a little extra weight. Which one do you love more, sprint or original?

Thanks, everyone. The problem with the debt-free lifestyle is you can't drive a new car unless you make a lot more than I do, so you have to fix the old one once in a while.

I did manage to snap a few pictures before the sun went down. I shot a few in direct sunlight to get the G-10 color, but the sun was so low I was having a hard time trying to get both the light and the angle. What can I say, I'm not a photographer.

I'm glad to see you get one, especially at a time where it's more than just "a nice gesture" and is a time you really wouldn't get one any other way. Sometimes the universe works through others and has a way of saying "good job Jack". Good job to you too Sal!

You both just made my day. :)

By the way Jack I am driving a 98 Mazda that no longer exists, and the place it was bought is no longer in business. The good thing is I don't owe money. The bad thing is that even though I have no points on my license or insurance, I pay more per year than the car is worth. Any claim and the insurance would call it totaled and I'd be back to trying to finance a car. :grumpy: I'm still paying off my last surgery and need 6 more so as my friend who finances cars at a dealership would say "I wouldn't sell you a car if you had cash". :o

Still, I'm luckier than many and will have money saved up for a mastiffwear millie when it comes out. :)

I've never had an issue with knives being pinned. I wouldn't care if they all were. It irritates me that people whine about not being able to take their knife apart to clean it. Guess what. You don't need to.

Although I'll treasure this Sprint, I still like the original better. What can I say, I like light better than heavy.

My broken down "new" car is a 1995 New Yorker with 145,000 miles on it. I just spent the day Saturday replacing the throwout bearing in my back up vehicle, a 1982 GMC one ton dually that thinks gas is still $0.79/gallon. At least I don't need surgery that I know of, probably because I haven't let a doctor get with ten feet of me in about 20 years.

Probably a good move staying away from doctors. Seems I get most of my bad news from them, and their business managers who bill me for what my insurance(s) don't pay. Still, I wouldn't mind having that old Dually big block even at upper $3 somethings per gallon. One can carry lots of stuff in those and I have collected a bunch over the years. Way too much for my old mazda. In fact I'd need a trailer along with the truck and then some.

Good luck with both cars Jack. Funny they both need work at the same time. That's life though. :)
