A hunting we shall go...

Great story:thumbup:

The pics were good enough, no worries:D

I've just researched hunting laws in NSW. Great to see that there are few limitations.... Also an indication of overpopulation of many species. Now, if your government could only relax some firearm laws......

It has been a wonderful truck mate, it is a bit looooong in the tooth now but I have no desire to change it. It is a bit slow on the hills when the trailer/bike and following but I am generally in no great hurry ;)

Thanks guys, despite feeling a bit like death at the moment I certainly enjoyed it all !!!!!

Zak, both are English Setters (they are in fact full brother and sister but from different litters).

I think one of the guys who hunted with me (he took a larger buck !!!!) took home the better part of 15 deer, he has a cool room at home and then distributes the meat to friends and family back here in the city.
I was reading this and going to comment on the dogs as well

Big fan of the English Setters, I have the smaller Lewellin Setter, my female is probably only about 25 lbs.

She also likes helping out after a hunt lol

Yes, I do LOVE English Setters, they have wonderful personalities. The Bitch we had before (she is the Aunt of these two) truly did not understand she was a dog. In her mind she was a human with a bit more hair. They are engaging and endearing. What's more, they make me laugh...LOTS...and that can't be a bad thing at all.

As for the B4, as usual it did a fine job, I can honestly say it now needs to be sharpened. I bought it new (2012 or 13 maybe ?? whenever they were released) and have lost count of the number of deer it has dressed now, along with hogs etc. I have done NOTHING other then strop the original edge Beef added at the start and it has always returned to shaving sharp with little effort. I did knock the edge around a good deal caping the buck. I stropped it back up and cleaned the doe above with no issue but when I got home and was cutting some meat and such it was notably lacking.
......last weekend I decided to sharpen up the B4 again as it was no longer cutting well enough at all....as I was setting up the WSKT-KO I could not help but think...."do I need to"....sooooo.... I decided what the hell. I then drew the blade down the shaft of a screw driver about six times per side and then along a small steel I carry bush. I think spent about 20 mins on the strop with black then green compound aaaaaaand bugger me, it is back to frightening the hair off my arm just by waving it nearby.... back into the sheath it goes... :)

Andy, thanks for posting the pics and story. I always enjoy reading about your adventures and seeing the great pictures you take.Your stories are always interesting to me. Keep Them coming!

Thanks all. I was suppose to return to this place for another week starting 7 May but I have had to cancel as work just would not allow it. I am pretty disappointed about it to be honest. I have to fly to the UK on 16 May for a bit over a week (part of the reason I had to scrap my trip bush) and if I am to be honest I would probably have preferred the UK trip to have not gone ahead... yes they have Big Ben and a Bridge and The Tower (along with warm beer, silly accents and Prince Charles) but I would still have preferred to be up the mountains near home...

I'm with ya there. Cities are cities. People and things built by people fail to impress me much. But nature... nature is awe inspiring.

.

I could not agree more mate, there are parts of the UK I would love to visit, mountains and lakes and places of true beauty, but cities and lots of people are not my thing. I will roam London and snap pics in the couple of spare days I have while there but a week in the wilds somewhere would be much preferred !!!
