A hunting we will go...

Probably 30 years ago, my friend Phillip Baldwin did a set of 6 steak knives forged from his own random ladder pattern damascus and fitted to stainless steel tangs(for ease of use, storage and maintenance) for an art exhibition called the "Poetry of the Physical". The handle colors ranged from light birdseye maple through African blackwood. The knives that Nick has displayed have that same theme and usefulness. This is a very good idea, and well executed in Nick's case. I'd like to see this done with different shapes of personal knives....and by other makers. It is very attractive and a traffic stopper at shows.

It's something very special about simplistic, well-made, good looking Hunting Knives.
Nice work Nick!

They are all very appealing! Great knife/sheath packages!

The G10 liners pull it all together for me, no matter which wood choice.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. :)

Lorien, it's sort of a catch 22. The way these handles are constructed the spine profile is a completely smooth curve, but the way I did Ryan's knife, the tang is wider as there's almost no shoulder on the top side (and I think in hand that transition is subtle anyway). To my eye, it's sort of a 6 of one, half dozen of the other, type of thing. :)

Mike, I haven't put Js on anything... as I'm planning on only marking my 5 Ms test knives with it... someday. LOL

Thanks! :)

That Tasmanian number (last one in the video) will be heading up north - I look forward to putting it through its paces.

I love mine Nick and knew it was perfect the first time I saw it! Great work as always. I took mine out this weekend and cleaned a bunch of Trout with it, I offered to clean everyone's catch... Yeah it is that fun to use!

Here it is............light,fast, and razor sharp!!

They are quite nice and although I haven't actually got to use it yet, this blade I'm sure will do the job skinning out any North American animal one might take hunting. This blade is VERY light in the hand... feels quite nice.

Nice pics guys! Mine arrived yesterday, but I didn't get home until late - then forgot to grab the box on the way out the door this morning - d'oh! Oh well, something to look forward to when I get home.

Opened the box and unwrapped the careful packaging last night. This is one sweet little knife. Glad I saw the video, 'cause the chatoyancy in the wood is not evident in still photos. Feels great in hand, and comes with a very keen edge. The dominant impression is one of precision - something common to all of Nick's knives. Can't wait to put it to work.
