I stumbled upon this video on YouTube and I think it's pretty entertaining... he plans on using his RSK Mk2 (#114) for fighting bears.

Ive never wanted to be friends with someone more in my entire life than this man.

I actually subscribed to his channel, he is extremely interesting. He hunts, kills the animal, then gives you a video on methods of cooking. He also does knife sharpening, and shows x-rays of knives and microscopic views of blades. He's the man.

Virtousice is really a cool guy. His knives are 'crazy sharp' and none of them drawer queens. I like the way he convex finished his BK2. But my favorite of his videos are when he mirror finished his knife edges on examine them under microscope. LOL!

He's got 2 wedding rings, I wonder if its a cultural thing.(for years married) Pretty cool vid, I think i've seen him slicin tomatoes with that bk2.

I'll have to watch this later. I really don't have the time now, but if it's the guy I think it is this is going to be good. :D

japan has deer?

yeah, but they're only about 1.5 feet tall, and you need several for a meal :) godzilla ate all the big ones.

heh heh

he speaks of bears... i'll have to look up what kind of bear they have there.

Virtuovice is definitely one of the coolest people on youtube. I even enjoy watching his family cook some very tasty looking dishes.

Another thumbs up for virtuovice. He is a doctor. He has a way of speaking that you know he knows what he's talking about. Some of his reviews are of traditional japanese hunting knives, and he shows you how to order them from japan. It would help if I spoke japanese and read kanji...

Virtuonovice is the real deal. Hes a true outdoors man, whos out there using his knives for their intended purpose. And he makes good informative videos to boot. Been a subsciber for a long time.

Plus he takes it a bit further, and shows you how to prepare the game.

Theyve got Asiatic Black Bears in Japan. The ones with the white markings on their chest and big manes. Apparently, theyre extremely aggresive towards humans.

EDIT: heres a pic

Cool video! Well, I can't say I designed the RSK Mk2 for killing bears, specifically. :D I truly hope he never has occasion to be forced to use it for that. Even the small Asiatic bear is not something I'd care to take on with only a knife, but unfortunately he has no other legal or practical option. I am sorry for him that that Japan's laws are so absurd and restrictive, on this and many other issues. That's the sort of thing I started Knife Rights to prevent over here.

Doug , if you think this is absurd , come visit my country ... Where in almost every aspect (knife carrying included), a person is regarded guilty unless proven otherwise ...
I wish I could legally carry a 6" blade !

I suppose I should have expected that. Despite its problems, I think I'll stick with here where "freedom," however imperfect, still means something, at least. Sorry to be you in this regard.

Doug,

The RSK MK2 would make a nice defensive tool in a survival situation. It certainly can be deployed faster then the BK2 out of their original sheath. It will be great if it is available in SS version, then I could tell my wife I need one for 'fighting' crocodiles in our rivers. Hehe!

Cheers!

ive been watching this guy for a while, i really like what he has to say. have you seen the video of his saber ground bk2
