A Khukuri for the 3rd Millennium

Jim you are way behind on the Talonite khukuri idea, I ran that by Robert N Simonich months ago. Look for a report sometime this summer if I am impressed by the much smaller fixed blade he is making for me.

Oh, we're supposed to be discussing khukuris and not how some people are in trouble with certain deities.

Talking to your knife is not necessarily a sign of insanity. It's only when your knife answers you back that it's time to start worrying....

Howard Wallace: Take a look at the multitool thread in the general forum. I just suggested since the multitool buffs have so much in common with the hollow-handle survival knife buffs (they don't like belt pouches either) they should get together and design a hollow-handle survival multitool. I didn't realize until I read your post how unimaginative that idea was. They need your help!

Is the world ready for the hollow-handle survival multitool khukuri of the future today?

I hope not, but who's to say? I'll go ask my knife....

Well Cougar, as much as I hate to admit it, you’re right.

But I can explain. For St. Patrick’s day I bought a number of bottles of Guiness Stout. My homage to the saint has lasted a number of days. I found myself in the grips of an irrational enthusiasm for the “one sheath has everything” concept pioneered by the ancient Nepalese.

Now the Guiness is all gone, and in my somber mood I can see that you are right. A possibles bag or a belt pouch is more sensible.

I still like the concept of a minimal sheath and carry system. One that just protects the sharp edge and the point of the blade. I’ll carry my other goodies in a possibles bag or my pockets.

At least until I get some more Guiness??

As much as wine has played the infidel
and robbed me of my robe of honor, well
I often wonder what the vintners buy
one half so precious as the goods the sell.

In the HI forum we can substitute anything we like for "wine" in the above, and substitute perhaps sensibilities for robe of honor and we've got it.
