After Cliff (I think) posted a picture of his deer-handled khukuri with an engraved blade on the forum, I got an itch to get some of my knives in with a white deer handles. Of course, Bill pointed out that I ran the risk of encouraging poachers, which I didn't want to do. So, I contacted my friend Pete, who sells my khukuris at gun shows in the Virginia area, and asked him to help (he's a great knife maker). He offered to make a variety of custom khukuris (engraved blades, bhojpures, plain blades) with sambar deer antler, an ivory look-alike synthetic material (the name escapes me), and yes, some antique ivory he has in his shop. He's doing a great job one one of the ivory-handled khukuris - putting nickle silver fittings on the blade instead of the brass ones. Wait, I'm babbling. Here's the question:

Do these "American" handle meet with any objections from the forum? Because I don't have family in Nepal, it was the only way I could satisfy my customers and ensure that I wasn't getting poached antler.

India stag is common and cheap. As for imitations;I don`t want them.
