There are knives there that look great when finished but do not require the installing of a guard but still have a finger stop.

Congrats! I got married last summer and made my four groomsmen and myself knives. It's actually what got me into the craft. I started a few months early so I could practice and then as the wedding approached I completed these 5 matching blades and sheaths...

Thanks for the kind words. Swear I'm not trying to "win" just showing it can be done and that it's a great gift. They were very appreciative, and all seem like they will cherish it.
8 or 10 knives? Zowie there's lots of work there alright !

Am I wildly underestimating this?! I thought it would be an enjoyable and personable gift to make. If I'm getting in over my head, please let me know. I may rethink my plan... The kits I've chosen come with everything (supposedly).
Morning bud! "You Win" maybe came out wrong...
I meant it to be a compliment... Recognizing your talent & recognizing my lack of talent!
I also was trying to allude to the fact that you went above & beyond what most people do.
No malice intended,,on the contrary, I think you are an excellent craftsman already!
I looking forward to seeing other knives you make!
Sorry for any misunderstanding.
Have a good one buddy!
