A kiss from WWII:

I don't think there's anything wrong- I think people find what is best for them. But I use either some form fitting pigskin or even the loose work gloves of the construction site. Past the, twist-in hands point is probably too far for the blade anyway. I've had some twist though....

I haven't used form-fitting gloves, but I'll bet they would work for me too. I get blisters rather easily, having a desk job.

I'm curious about this blister thing...

I've only ever got blisters (on my hands) twice: once, as a child crossing monkey bars every day, and the 2nd time about 2 months ago and it was from an uneven handle wearing me down... Not even heavy machette use gave me blisters.

I have never used gloves and probably never will (on the knife hand). I have only ever found one pair of gloves that fit my hand right and they're driving gloves. I do, however, use fingerless gloves while working outside "in the shop".

To further stir the pot, I too have a desk job. I guess I have a few callouses here and there, but I thought my hands were fairly smooth - compared to other's...

I consider myself your typical do-it-yourself-er/weekend-warrior and certainly don't handle tools on a daily basis. That said, I'm not afraid to give it my all when I'm actually working, and don't mind putting in a good sweaty day's work (seems to help relieve the office stress).

So, what am I missing here?

I don't know. Lucky DNA? I'll cut half a pickup load of logs with a khukuri. Logs from 4" to 9"

I'm not strong, either.

Looks like the only thing you are missing is the blisters.

Don't know, either. They form when the skin is trying to protect it's underlying layers from rubbing, hence the liquid.

I won't offer to send you some of mine, next time I get some.
