a few weeks ago i was out at my friends showing him how to grind a knife so he could grind his next. after i had ground the knife i asked his wife if she wanted it for a kitchen knife. she said ok and this is what i made. it was a little heavy so i cut it down to lighten it up. now it balances right where your index finger would be. my friends knife didnt turn out too bad either. i had to straighten him out a few times but he finally got it. when he was within a few minutes of grinding to finish the blade i had him stop just so he wouldnt mess it up since he done so good getting it as far as he did.

i gave troy and renea their knives. i made a little shelf for renea to put her knife on when she was done using it. i'll take a picture of it when troy mounts it on the wall.

the steel i use is 3/16" thick 1075. she was checking it out right after i finished grinding the blade and asked if i can lighten it up so i cut some of the spine off and ended up with what you see. cutting it down the way i did worked out great. the balance point is right where your index finger would be when holding the knife. my dad sliced a tomato with it easily. now i need to get her another cutting board other than the granite slab she has.
