Here is my latest ‘hobbit knife’. This time it is a bit truer to the intended idea perhaps because of it’s smaller size and very … ‘botanical’ handle. The blade was forged from 1075 tool steel and differentially heat treated to show a hamon or ‘temper line’. The shape is that of an Anglo-Saxon broken-back seax.. a culture and time period that inspired Tolkien’s Middle Earth. The handle is deer bone and some ancient juniper I salvaged from the desert in Colorado. The blade is 3.5″ long and the overall length is 7.5″… a perfect size for a hobbit’s belt knife. Or a fine, compact size for human hands. As usual for my hobbit knives the sheath will come with a carved spoon ‘toggle’ for carry.

Price is $250 including sheath and carved spoon.

Here is the second of a series of Hobbit Hunting spears. At 5’1″ this short spear is a perfect companion for a Took or Brandybuck hunting or adventuring in the Wild. Forged from 80CRV2 (known for it’s toughness) the leaf-shaped blade measures 5″. The haft is ash and is decorated with hobbit runes (which roughly say ‘Roush Made’). While this spear is ultimately a thrusting spear due to it’s weight it can be thrown short distances as the haft has a weight-forward bobtail shape. At the terminus of the haft there is a deer bone butt-cap with bronze rivet. This protects the wood when the spear is being used while walking.

I’m asking $400 for this spear.
