Just to update those of you who posted on this topic:

Steven Dick, the Editor for Tactical Knives contacted me via email and has offered to send me a copy of the latest issue of the magazine since I have not been able to locate it here in Regina.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Steven again for his gracious offer.

I'll let you all know what I think once I have had time to peruse the magazine fully.

Knife magazines are good, but I agree that for basic information you should hit the books. The Knife Annuals by Ken Warner are great. You can get old editions. Same for Gun Digest Book of Knives and Best of Knife World books. All are jam packed with all kinds of great information. For pictures, you can't beat Jim Weyer's Knives: Points of Interest series.

John F. & Gus-Thanks for the information.
I couldn't find Knifeworld at the Penn Station newstands (largest in the city) but
subscribed at their website.Thanks again,
Sky

M-D, I would suggest reading some stuff around here to learn the basics.
http://www.bladeforums.com/features/faqs.shtml

That should have a lot of information. Then move on to the magazines. I know a lot of people who read the magazines without having any experience with steels and stuff either first hand or by learning here, and they are stuck with just deciding on knives based on "that looks cool."
