A knife for my roommate

dislikes the bulky handle

Sounds like a BM 710 with D2. Nice and slim; long blade; decent retention. cheap @ $110 or so.
 
So far, I'm looking at the 940 and 710. We'll see if one pops up at a good price soon - I'm thinking he wants sturdiness and ease of lock operation over slicing ability, so I'm nixing lockbacks and linerlocks in general.

I have a few Kizers... I hadn't really considered showing him those. Worth a shot.
 
I love my 940. There just aren't many 3.5" knives that I can say disappears in the pocket as comfortably as a Dragonfly.
 
ZT 0770 and deassist it. Lot of blade in that small package and it carries great.
