A knife for work.

Why does everyone has to have sheeple friendly knife? Where I work, 8 incher wrapped in a cardboard and tape "sheath" is perfectly acceptable.

I'll also need it on the floor, as in out around people (sheeples) so, I dont want some mother walking by with a kid and giving me looks and what not, I just dont need it.

Though when Im in the woods, its a totally diffrent story :D

The sheeple thing is weird. I work in a factory where most of the guys hunt and fish, but only two of us carry a knife. The other guys shake their head and say it's dumb, a waste of money, etc... then you see them wandering around for 1/2 hour looking for a razor blade or utility knife

That would be tough in the environment I work in. :D

They would be scattering down the hallway, does not matter that the pair of scissors on their desks or the blade the the paper cutter has more potential for harm in the hands of the wrong bozo. :)

I get grief almost daily for carrying a small multiblade. I get more requests from folks to borrow it. The knife in my pocket today is the BFC 2006 Ring Knife we ordered together (out of the Traditional forum).

Last Christmas I handed out about 20 SAK Classics at the office. About 3 people now carry them out of the 20.

My suggestion is to go with the native. Relatively cheap and a great knife. I have been edc mine for over 2 years with no problems. I carry mine to school everyday where I work with students and professors in a lab and do need a knife pretty regularly and no one has made a remark yet. It seems to be relatively sheeple friendly.

If you want people to get used to you having a knife, then the Queen in D2 would be a good choice. Lots of slipjoints to choose from, I just got a whittler from a fellow forumite and love it! If you are thinking lockback, then I really like the Calys in any configuration, and if you get a VG 10, then you are (I think) still well under your limit. What's the exchange rate these days?

+1 for spyderco. Spyderco native, endura, or delica... is good for cutting boxes, and easy to open and close with one hand. IMO:)

Hahaha, that sucks. Almost everyone here has a knife ( over 50%) since they pretty much banned box cutters since they can break off and get into foods ( I work in a chocolate factory btw). What do you guys make?

I always wondered why that chocolate bar made my gums bleed. :D

+1 on the Spyderco Native. It's inexpensive (only $40.00 US at Wal-Mart), uses a great steel (S30V), it's built nice and strong, it's comfortable, and best of all, it's easily replacable. As much as I prefer Benchmade knives, I still use my Spyderco Native from Wal-Mart.

Of course, for a beater knife, I prefer the Benchmade HK14300S instead. Not as good steel (440C) but in my opinion, built better. A nice wide blade tip, and partially serrated. I also paid only $40.00 US for it, from a gun shop in Evansville, IN.

Both of them have shapes that are relatively sheeple-friendly (particularly the native), for those ignorant people who are scared of everything. A Griptilian is a great choice, too; however, it's shape isn't sheeple-friendly.

While I use the HK, once I get a serrated edge sharpener, and get proficient at sharpening, I plan to finally break out my Benchmade Sequel.

If you plan on using the knife very often, I would go with any Benchmade with an Axis lock. This will allow you to snap the blade open and closed VERY quickly with one hand. The Mini-Griptilian would be my #1 suggestion for you. Approx $60.

Spyderco Endura 4.
Spyderco Native.
I have both of them; use them regularly; great for EDC.

Also, the Kershaw Junkyard Dog II looks pretty interesting.

Lebaron has all these knives in their catalogue.

Well, this is what it came too, a sheath from Normark at on/scene Tactical, and a Vic rucksack. :D

Really nice. I have the similar One-hand Trekker. Good big knife to get a grip on, useful tools, and enough blade for most daily work.

That sheath means you can carry it any number of different ways, even clip it to a belt loop, like an upside down dangler sheath. :)

If the sheath is a bit tight at first, rub the handle with the tiniest drop of oil or even chapstick on each side and work it in and out of the sheath a few times.

I noticed that yeah, Its pretty good now, at first I couldn't deploy it with one hand, but I'm able to now.
